After a three-day analysis by the commission staff, Southwest Mental Health Center had zero deficiencies on its report. The commission examined whether the 119-year-old organization adhered to national standards on patient's safety, staffing, infection control, medication management, patient rights, ethics and orientation and training."

We sought accreditation for our organization because we want to demonstrate our commitment to patient safety and quality care," says Fred Hines, president and CEO of Southwest Mental Health Center. "We consider obtaining Joint Commission accreditation another step toward providing the best mental health services for the children and families in our community." 

Southwest Mental Health Center is San Antonio's oldest behavioral health care provider and is the only non-profit psychiatric hospital for children and adolescents in South Texas.
