Recovery Walk SA & Family Fun Day

On Saturday, September 12th, 2009, over 600 people celebrated recovery from alcohol and other drug addiction to make a difference and offer themselves as living proof that RECOVERY is REAL.  Recovery Month observances are held nationwide in September to provide awareness and offer hope that treatment really does work.  This event was funded in part by a grant from the Substance Abuse & Mental Health Services Administration -The Center for Substance Abuse Prevention - Methamphetamine Prevention Partnership and the Community Anti-Drug Coalitions of America and was sponsored by VALERO, Walmart, CPS Energy, San Antonio Water System, Reckitt Benckiser’s Suboxone, FROST Bank and the Jr. League of San Antonio.

Despite the dark clouds and rumbling thunder hundreds of people braved the threat of rain and came out to join family members, friends, and allies to walk in the Recovery Walk SA & Family Fun Day at historical Brackenridge Park.
