Charline High
Para-professional - Retired
A native of San Antonio, Ms. High has worked over 19 years as an educator in the San Antonio Independent School District.  She has served on many Boards such as Frank Bryant Health Center, the Boys and Girls Club, and the YMCA.  Ms. High spends her spare time on her sewing, traveling, and volunteering in the community.  As a member of the New Jerusalem Baptist Church she works with Parents Making A Difference ministry.

 
     
     
     
     
     
         
 
 
 

James L. Howard
San Antonio Independent School District Trustee District 2
Mr. Howard is the District 2 representative for the San Antonio Independent School District (SAISD) Board of Trustees.  He has performed in several distinguished capacities such as Special Education Campus Coordinator for Exceptional Children for SAISD; Program Coordinator and Recreational Assistant for the United States Army Post Recreational Services; and President of AFT/PSRP-San Antonio Chapter, Bexar County Federation of Teachers Local 1356.

 
     
     
     
     
         
   

Jane Macon
Partner, Fulbright & Jaworski
Although her work in the Public Law Section of Fulbright & Jaworski claims most of her time, Ms. Macon has contributed to numerous publications and serves on the board for eight national organizations, including the Muriel F. Siebert Foundation; the International Women's Forum; and the National Child Care Action Board.  Ms. Macon was San Antonio's first woman City Attorney and is a member of the San Antonio Women's Hall of Fame.

 
     
     
     
         
   

Col. Ethel Nelson
U.S. Airforce - Retired
Col. Nelson served 26 years in the U.S. Air Force.  At the time of her retirement she was the Command Nurse for the Pacific Air Forces, covering all bases in the Pacific and Far East.  Since retiring to San Antonio, Col. Nelson has been a member and past chairperson of the Southeast Highland Hills Good Neighbor Crime Watch.  Also, she is a past member and chair of San Antonio Parks and Recreation Department Advisory Board; member of the Greater San Antonio Crime Prevention Commission; and past Treasurer and now president of the Southeast Community Outreach for Older People, Inc.  She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from Maryville College; a Bachelor's degree in Nursing from the University of Rochester; and a Master's degree in Nursing Administration from Columbia University.

 
     
     
     
         
   

Jerry Pittman
Assistant Chief, San Antonio Police Department - Retired
Former Assistant Chief Pittman was with the San Antonio Police Department for 33 ½ years and the first African-American Deputy Chief in the history of the Department upon his appointment in 1995.  Although his role was primarily administrative, he was instrumental in reducing crime in our community.  He is a 1997 Join Together Fellow, and recipient of the San Antonio NAACP Outstanding Citizen Award in 1998.

 
     
     
     
         
   

Jennifer Ramos
District 3 City Councilwoman and owner El Torero Mexican Restaurant
To show her appreciation to the community, Counilwoman Ramos has coordinated and sponsored events such as an annual Thanksgiving lunch, and "Santa is Coming" event.  Ms. Ramos received her Master's in Organizational Development and her Bachelors degree from the University of the Incarnate Word.  She is involved with other non-profit organizations, including Habitat for Humanity, the Cesar Chavez Organization, and Casa Amparo in Reynosa, Mexico. In her spare time, Councilwoman Ramos enjoys playing golf, watching movies, dancing and spending time with her family and is a parishioner of St. Cecilia Church.

 
     
     
     
     

 

 
   

Lee Redoux, Jr.
Security Officer, Citywide Investigations & Security
Retired Sgt. Redoux, U.S. Army, served in the Vietnam, Desert Storm and Iraq Wars.  He attended the University of Maryland as a Criminal Justice major working towards a Law degree.  He has served over 37 years in both military and civilian law enforcement and was assigned by President Bush to assist the Dept. of Homeland Security/Border Patrol as an Intelligence Analyst - Gang Unit on the border.

 
     
     
         
   

John C. Sparks, M.D.
Col., USAF (MC) - Retired; Hospital Administrator - Wilford Hall USAF Hospital, and Bexar County Detention Health Care Services - Retired; Psychiatrist - Retired.
Dr. Sparks was the Chief of Hospital Services at Wilford Hall prior to his AF retirement and was Medical Director of the Bexar County Adult and Juvenile Detention Centers prior to his retirement from the University Health System.  He has been an active advocate for the mentally ill for many years participating in multiple organizations and committees working for improvement in available care for the mentally ill.  He is a graduate of the University of Illinois College of Medicine with a Bachelor of Science Degree and a Medical Degree.  He is a Life Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association and a Life Member of the Texas Medical Association.
